PH Tech Provides Free, One-on-One Support to Oregonians Needing Assistance
For Immediate Release
November 1, 2016 – Salem, OR – Performance Health Technology (http://www.phtech.com) is one of the community organizations selected by the Department of Consumer and Business Services, Oregon Health Insurance Marketplace to help people sign up for health insurance during the upcoming open enrollment period, from November 1, 2016 to January 31, 2017.
PH Tech is available to answer questions and provide free, one-on-one support to help people enroll or re-enroll and they work with a network of agents that can do more in depth choice counseling for complicated scenarios. They can also help people access the financial assistance that is available to most Oregonians through HealthCare.gov and help people apply for the Oregon Health Plan.
“Enrolling in insurance can be difficult and confusing, but a community organization can help you through the process,” said DCBS Director Patrick Allen. “We are grateful that this network of community partners across the state is providing that support.”
One recent person assisted by PH Tech said, “Thank you for being such a genuine help to me yesterday. It was such a relief to feel like I had an ally in my efforts to make it possible for my grandson’s coverage to continue. Thanks for being great in your job and kind as well.”
PH Tech is located at 3990 Fairview Industrial Drive SE. It is near public transportation, offers free parking, and is accessible to people with disabilities. Walk-ins are welcome, or people may call 503.584.4208 to make an appointment. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 8am - 5pm.
Health insurance helps people and families stay healthy by getting the care they need, and it protects them from large health care expenses. The penalty for not having health insurance is $695 per adult and $347.50 per child at minimum—perhaps higher depending on income. Financial help to pay for health insurance is available to many people. In fact, seven out of 10 people in Oregon who bought insurance through HealthCare.gov last year received about $250 per month to help pay for their insurance.
The deadline for people who don’t have insurance and for people who have to renew or change plans is January 31, 2017. It is important to shop again this year, as some plans have changed and there may be a better fit.
People who want to sign up on their own can enroll at HealthCare.gov, and people can find free in-person help from agents or local community organizations at OregonHealthCare.gov. The website has informational brochures in different languages and for different communities.
